My name is Heather Dunsworth and I have been teaching at PAVE since 2013.
I teach a variety of subjects that include high school Social Studies, Science, Physical Education, and
a few option courses.I also teach Grade 5 Language Arts and Science.
PAVE is a great place to teach and learn in a flexible way! I love being able to work one-on-one
with my students through phone calls, online meetings, and library visits.I also love our monthly
get-togethers where we get to have fun and build our community at PAVE!

Hi there! My name is Nick Benoit and I teach Senior High English, Social Studies, CALM, and some of the options courses as well. This is my seventh year teching online and I can honestly say that it is the best job I’ve ever had*. I live in Grande Prairie with my wife Beth, our daughter Ruby, and our cat Fudge, who serves as a stark reminder as to why it's been over 30 years since I last had a cat..
This is a great place to work, but it is also a great place to be a student. We are very fortunate in that we are able to be more flexible than a traditional school, and for many of our students this is exactly what is needed.
Finally, I’d like to end with a bit of advice. It is important to try your best, but don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from them. With the right amount of rigor, it is possible to fail forward!
*(A tie actually, I used to deliver pizza in a small town and that’s tough to beat!).
Hello! My name is Kate Thon, and I am so happy to be one of your teachers.
I have taught many things and many grade levels over the years (French at every grade from 4 to 12!) and can honestly say I’ve loved every subject and every grade level. I just love getting to know people and working with them to achieve their goals. How about you, what are your favourite courses?
Some of the less traditional courses I teach, which are both fun and practical, include Harmony with Horses (yes, WITH horses), focusing on communication and relationship-building skills. If you love animals and can see yourself in a career helping people, talk to me about our Animal Assisted Wellness courses to see if they might be a good fit for you.
I have quite a menagerie of odd and unusual farm animals at Haywire Ranch, where I live. Their quirky personalities provide many humorous stories, and I can’t wait to share them.
I look forward to getting to know you, learning what you are passionate about and having a great year working together!
